What are you in the Netherlands for?

I am here as a highly skilled migrant, working as a Design Engineer for a Dutch manufacturer of storage systems.

What is your background?

I graduated with a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering and have more than 4 years of experience in the Design field.

How long are you here? And how long will you stay?

I’ve been in the Netherlands for more than 4 months and I will probably stay until Sept 2019.

What was your first impression of the Netherlands?

The Netherlands is a very beautiful country. People in the Netherlands are as professional as helpful in nature.

Where do you stay? How is housing arranged?

I stay in Zeddam which is a small and quite place nearby Doetinchem. There is a good public transport connection which makes it easy to travel to the office on a daily basis. Additionally all main facilities are present which makes it convenient to do grocery shopping. I arranged my housing and found a suitable accommodation from housing website Airbnb.

How is the collaboration with colleagues?

My colleagues are supportive, always ready to help me in work and non-work related issues. They consider me one of them.

What do you find most striking about the Netherlands or the Dutch?

The clean and well arranged public transport service.

What is the biggest difference with India?

Out of many, I find weather conditions the biggest difference between India and the Netherlands.

What do you do outside of working hours?

On weekends, I travel and explore famous places in the Netherlands. I prefer staying home on weekdays outside working hours.

What is the best thing you have experienced during your stay here?

Apart from the great work culture, I find the Netherlands is one of the best places for tourism.
